YFP-317, also known as CFAV VIXEN operated out of the Small Boats Unit (SBU) at CFB Esquimalt. In of 1976 she was based it out of HMCS QUADRA in Comox, BC, for the months of June-July-August operating primarily in Desolation Sound and Georgia Strait as a training ship. In September 1976, YFP-317 was returned to SBU at CFB Esquimalt.
