RIENDEAU, Joseph Arthur Lucien, AB, V6869, RCNVR, killed - 29 Apr 1944, HMCS ATHABASKAN - Son of Ivanhoe and Yvonne Riendeau

 

AB Riendeau died when his ship, HMCS ATHABASKAN, was torpedoed and sunk in the English Channel on 29 Apr 1944. His body was recovered and he was buried in the Plouescat Communal Cemetery, Finistere, France. The province of Ontario honoured Able Seaman Riendeau by naming Riendeau Lake in his honour.
