SMITH, Kenneth Harry, AB, V70955, RCNVR, MPK - 16 Apr 1945, HMCS ESQUIMALT - Son of Harry and Ethel Smith, of New Westminster, British Columbia.
AB Smith died when his ship, HMCS ESQUIMALT, was torpedoed and sunk by U-190 off the approaches to Halifax harbour.
Kenneth's friend and shipmate Al Sandor was drafted of ESQUIMALT before he final voyage. Al Sandor named his second son Kenneth in honour of his friend who did not survive the war.
