A son of William McPherson and Flora McColl, Cameron was born in 1916. Cameron joined the Canadian Navy in 1940 and trained at ROYAL ROADS Roads in 1941. He then went to CORNWALLIS for training as a Gunnery Officer - serving in corvettes on the Triangle Run. He married Jean Ferguson of Truro, NS in 1942. They had four children. He he was demobilized in 1945 he joined the federal income tax department as an accountant, working in Winnipeg, Thunder Bay and Ottawa. He retired in1975. Cameron is buried in the Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Guelph, Ontario.
