GUTHRIE, Robert John (Bob) - Born February 21, 1923, passed away on February 26, 2003 at Metropolitan Hospital. Predeceased by his wife Dolores (1989), brothers David (1942) and Joseph (1976), and sister Alice Smith (1995). Beloved father of; Barbara and husband Jay Sanford, Bonnie Martin, Robert Jr. and wife Eileen, William and wife Joan, Brian, Bradley and wife Dinah, Brett, Barry, Bart and wife Kathryn, Blake and wife Janice, Beverley and husband Tom Dolan and Beth Lee Ann. Dear brother of Ronald - Sault St. Marie and Kenneth - Windsor. Loving grandfather to 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Mr. Guthrie was retired from Canada Post. He served his country in WWII with Royal Canadian Navy aboard the HMCS Beacon Hill and the HMCS Stadacona and was honorably discharged September 19, 1945. He was one of the founding members and past president of the Admiral Hose RCNA of Windsor. Mr. Guthrie was also a 50 year member of the Windsor Euchre League. Friends may call at the Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 895 Ouellette Avenue (254-3223) on Thursday from 2-5pm & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held in the Anderson Memorial Chapel on Friday, February 28, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. Cremation to follow. A Veteran's Service will be held Thursday evening at 7:30 pm under the auspices of The Naval Veterans Association.
Robert's brother, David Norman Guthrie, died when the SS ETTRICK, on which he was taking passage to Scotland, was torpedoed and sunk during the Second World War.
