COWLEY, Hugh, Able Seaman (2002) - After a long and courageous battle with cancer at St. Boniface General Hospital. He is survived by his wife Bea (Levesque) Cowley, son Scott Cowley, daughter Sylvie (Marcel) Huot, granddaughter Jocelyne Huot, grandson Adam Huot, and sister-in-law Gladys Cowley. He was predeceased by his brother Mick Cowley of Calgary, AB. As a young man, he served in the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Navy on the HMCS Saskatoon for four years. Shortly after meeting his wife Bea, he graduated from the faculty of Engineering as a civil engineer from the University of Manitoba. As a dedicated and loyal employee of the Manitoba Department of Highways, he worked as assistant Bridge Engineer for the Province of Manitoba. During the early years of his career, he began his family. His passion for gardening was known by all, particularly at his favourite "get away", the cottage at Albert Beach. His greatest passion in life however, was his family. As a devoted husband and father, he was unsurpassed. A model of integrity and dignity, he was selfless in all of his endeavours. His greatest concerns were always for the health and well-being of all that he loved. His strength of character and love for his family will always be remembered and revered. A service celebrating Hughs life will be held on Wednesday, October 23 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Bernadette Roman Catholic Church, 820 Cottonwood Rd. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and support staff on N1 South Concordia Hospital and Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital. Their truly professional caring and compassionate ways will never be forgotten. We would also like to thank Dr. Jim Langridge (family physician), Dr. Pat Harris, Dr. S. VECQUERAY, Richard James - age 85, of Clinton, passed away August 26, 2010 at 100 Mile District Hospital. He was born on May 24, 1925 in Red Deer, Alberta. Richard’s family moved to Clinton in 1948. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Navy from 1943 to 1947, serving as an active leading seaman. From 1948 – 1956 he was a hunting guide at the Circle H Guest Ranch. In 1955 he married Olga Glena. Richard was an active member of the Clinton community all the years that he lived there. He was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, he served as a commissionaire for the RCMP, and in 2004 he received the Citizen of the Year award. Richard worked at Clinton Sawmills, and retired from Ainsworth Lumber as a saw filer in 1992. He is survived by his loving wife Olga, three children: Vickie (Don) Kapitanuk, Dale (Kathy) Vecqueray, Holly (Chuck) Russell; two grandchildren: Donova (John) Dundas, Hunter Russell; two great-grandsons Alexander Dundas, Jackson Dundas, and by one brother Phillip Vecqueray. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the Clinton Memorial Hall. SARKANY, James Michael, CPO2, C.A.F. - Our beloved James Michael Sarkany passed away during the night of December 1st, 2018. Born June 10th 1955 in Halifax NS to Frank and Eveline. He is the eldest sibling of Anne Mattoff (deceased), John Sarkany, Patricia Hall, and Joseph Sarkany. At 17 he joined the Royal Canadian Navy in Hamilton Ont and served for 26 years in Shearwater NS, Niagara Falls Ont, Victoria BC, Etobicoke Ont and Oakville Ont. As well as on the HMCS Gatineau, HMCS Terra Nova, HMCS Cowichan, HMCS Qu’Appelle, HMCS Provider, HMCS Annapolis, HMCS Algonquin, HMCS Calgary (Commissioning Crew and first Combat Systems Engineering Chief). After his retirement in 1999 he returned to the Navy as a defence contractor for 16 years at Albert Head. Jim was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus, In Service to One in Service to All. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, painting, playing cards, but most of all spending time with family and friends. Especially the boys playing sports. Survived by, two sons Shamus (Kalyn), Jay (Beki), adoring grandson James, an extended family of in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He has left us here on earth to grieve his passing and rejoice in the life that he shared with us, while he joins the love of his life and wife of 40 years Dianna May Sarkany (McMillan) in heaven. Funeral Mass will be held December 15th 2018, 10am at Chapel of Our Lady Star of the Sea (CFB Esquimalt), 595 Galiano Crescent, Belmont Park, Colwood. ECCLES, Charles James (Jim), Lt (N), C.A.F. - With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Lt. (N) (Ret.) Charles James "Jim" Eccles, M.A., C.D., on December 4, 2018. Born in Fort William on January 17, 1931, Jim was a lifelong resident of Thunder Bay and the community is enriched by his life in so many ways. After graduating from St. Patrick's High School, during which time he began his long military service in Sea Cadets, he worked in and managed Eccles Auto Body Shop for twelve years. He served his country with honour in all three branches of the service, Artillery, Air Force, and Navy. For many years, he was a Naval Lieutenant at HMCS Griffon. In 1963, on the steps of the newly built St. Patrick's Cathedral, he proposed to the love of his life, Dawn, and he said it was the happiest day of his life when she said yes. They had 55 happy years together. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in history from Lakehead University, and subsequently his Master of Arts in Education from the University of Minnesota Duluth. Jim taught history, sheet metal, small engines, auto body and welding at Northwood and Gron Morgan High Schools, shaping countless young minds. Ever the builder and teacher, he laid the groundwork for what is now the Lakehead University Alumni Association and served as its President. He built the pedestal and was the first to present the university's mace at convocation. Jim was a devout Roman Catholic and he assisted in the building of St. Mark's Church. He had over 200 people on his prayer list, and he said a Hail Mary every day for each of them. Jim was active in the Masonic Lodge Scottish Rite, where he served as Thrice-Puissant Grand Master for many years, and Lakehead Shrine Club where he was President in 2006. In his early years, Jim was a member of the Thunder Bay Flying Club, where he spent many fun nights regaling his friends with his long stories. A master storyteller, Jim spent his later years writing novels. His vivid imagination, lively wit, and true love of reading culminated in his novel, Horatio. Jim was an animal lover who was owned by a series of Newfoundland dogs, a giant breed reflecting the largeness of his heart. He was also owned by several cats, who could always count on a comfortable lap and delicious treats.  or many years, Jim was an active member of the Shuniah Volunteer Fire Department, where, without questioning his duty, he put himself in harm's way for the safety of others. Jim will be sorely missed by his wife Dawn; his daughters Ann-Louise (aka Naomi Vondell), Barbara (Ken), and Jennifer (Bob); his grandchildren Piper, James, Peter, Nico, Ky, Jordan and Connor; his sister Marguerite; and his large extended family. He was predeceased by his father Frank, his mother Blanche, and his brother Peter. Funeral services for Jim will take place Saturday, December 8, at Jenkens Funeral Home at 11:00 AM with visitation at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. All who knew and loved Jim are welcome to attend.

CHRISTOPHERSON, Howard Donald (25 Dec 1921 - 04 Dec 2018) - passed away peacefully at Magnolia Gardens in Langley, B.C. at the age of 96 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife Dottie in 2011, they were married for 66 years. He leaves to mourn his loving daughters Bonnie Christopherson and Jill (Jim) Chapman. Grandpa "Chris" also leaves 4 grandchildren, Lisa (Jason) Coulman, Julie (Ken) Rowe-Scott, Christie (Matt) Chapman-Rogelstad, Jake Chapman. 8 great-grandchildren, Anna, Michael, Jaden, Rachel, Max, Cali, Coco, Brady. Howard was born in a farmhouse near Brock, Saskatchewan, he was the youngest of 6 children. He served in the Navy in World War 2. He was involved in real estate in Vancouver and semi retired to Nanaimo in 1969 when he bought Petroglyph Mobile Park. Howard was an avid and competitive curler and very active in the Vancouver and Nanaimo Curling Clubs. He also was a passionate fisherman with his boat the "Bon-Jill" at Schooner Cove Marina. He took up golf later in life and was a member of Fairwinds Golf Club and got 2 holes-in-ones. He also loved all card games especially poker and bridge. He lived a long, good and full life and will be missed and fondly remembered by family and many friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Magnolia Gardens for their kind and compassionate care. A funeral service will be held at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1 Newcastle Ave. Nanaimo on Friday, December 14th at 11:30 am with a reception to follow. MacBRIEN, Joseph James, DFC, LCdr (P), RCN (20 Feb 1925 - 18 Nov 2018) - In his 94th year. Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law and friend, Joseph MacBrien died peacefully of natural causes on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Sunnybrook Hospital's Veteran Centre.He was predeceased by father W.A.H. (Bill) MacBrien, mother Blanche (Kilpatrick) MacBrien, brother W.A.H. (Bill) MacBrien, and wife of almost 50 years, Ann (Nicholls) MacBrien. Born and raised in Toronto, Joe attended Cresent School and St. Andrews College, then joined the WWII effort in 1942 by enlisting in the Royal Canadian Navy as an Officer Cadet. He later served on British and Australian warships in the Pacific as Navigating Officer. Joe completed pilot training in 1946 and served on an exchange tour as a fighter pilot with the US Navy. As Lieutenant and jet fighter pilot, he flew 66 combat missions off the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany (Korean War Service) subsequently receiving the United States Distinguished Flying Cross for his extraordinary efforts. In 1953, he attended Royal Naval Staff College and was appointed Lieutenant-Commander, later serving as Staff of Assistant Chief of Naval Staff in Ottawa until 1957. Post military service, Joe was employed with Canadair (Montreal) as Assistant to the President. He later moved with his family to Toronto to pursue a career in finance management. Joe loved navigation, photography and sailing. In 1964, he was selected to represent Canada sailing in the Tokyo Olympics in the Dragon class, alongside close friends Ed Botterell and Lynn Watters. He continued sailing into the 1980s. Joe is remembered with love by his children Jennifer, Marian, Julia, Susan and William (Bill); and his grandchildren Megan, Mallory, Meredith, Martin, Steven and Lauren; and great grandchild Finnley. The family extends its special thanks to the very caring staff of Sunnybrook Hospital Veteran's Centre where Joe resided comfortably for several years. Cremation has been arranged. ROBINSON, Bruce, Lt, Clearance Diver, RCN/ C.A.F.  (17 Apr 1930 - 20 Nov 2018) - Born to Mary and Homer Robinson on April 17, 1930. He died on November 20th, 2018, leaving behind his wife Anne, his daughter Diane, two granddaughters Audrey and Charlotte, and son James; his brother Richard (Jane), their children Erin (Travis) and Shane (Kim), and grandchildren Rachel and Elliot. Also mourning him are his step children and step grandchildren. Bruce was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Jan, their son Christopher, and his brother Dale. Bruce had a lifetime career as a clearance diver with the Royal Canadian Navy from 1948 until his retirement as Lt. in 1980. He was then employed by CFB Esquimalt Mobile Support Operations until 1997. In his retirement he spent his days volunteering in the community at the Goldstream Food Bank, Wescom Medi-Lend and driving a bus for JDF 55+ Activity Centre. Bruce was a proud member of the Shriners of BC and Yukon and was an active member in the United Peninsula Lodge #24. Bruce was a devoted long-time member of Gordon United Church, and was always ready to lend a hand and tell a story. The family wishes to thank the devoted doctors, nurses, and hospital staff at the Royal Jubilee Hospital for the excellent care that they provided for Bruce in his final days. A celebration of life will be held at the Gordon United Church (935 Goldstream Ave, Langford BC) on December 15th, 2018 at 1pm. Reception to follow. ROSEVEARE, Wallace Harold, RCN - It is with a great sense of loss the family of Wally, 87, announces his peaceful passing in Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax, Nova Scotia, on November 29, 2018. He entered eternal life with his beloved wife of 61 years, Lillian, his family and Rev. Rachael Parker by his side. Wally was born June 22, 1931, in Carman, Manitoba, and raised on the family farm in nearby Sperling. At 21 years old, he was proud to join the Royal Canadian Navy and travel to many ports, including Halifax, where he met “my Lilla.” Wally was a hardworking man, raising a family of five with a successful career in furniture sales at Eaton’s. Wally retired in 1993 and worked part-time at Dalhousie University where he enjoyed meeting students. He volunteered in Spiritual Care at the QEII Health Sciences Centre and faithfully visited friends in hospitals and nursing homes over many years. Wally was a past Master and member of the former Atlantic Lodge #103 and, more recently, Fairview Lodge #126 of the Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia for more than 50 years. He was an active, devoted member of Saint James Anglican Church and held several leadership positions there. True to his roots, he was an avid gardener. Wally was also a curling fan and followed politics as a member of the Progressive Conservative Association of Nova Scotia. Wally took pleasure in sitting by the fireplace reading the newspaper, being on the water in his boat fishing for mackerel, playing pool with his grandsons and camping with his family in younger years. Wally’s granddogs and their kisses brought much happiness to him and he claimed Coco as “my dog” while residing in Parkstone. Wally is survived by his wife, Lillian (Webber); Darrell (Susan); daughters Debbie Bright (Brian), Heather, Karen Green (Robert) and Kathleen (Bruce van Feggelen); grandchildren Laura, Joshua, Logan, Shannon, Meaghan, Nicolas, Danielle, Eric and Lillian; brother, John Roseveare, 97, of Virden, Manitoba; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his infant son, Dennis Harold, twin brother of Darrell; cherished grandson, Ian Robert Green; mother, Dorothy Adele (Fletcher) from Brighton, England; father, John Thomas; from Saltash, England; sisters Emma, Adele and Edith; and brothers George, Tom, Jim, Leslie and Charlie. The family sincerely thanks the staff members of Bayshore Home Health and Point Pleasant Way at Parkstone Enhanced Care, Masonic brethren, Rev. Parker and J.A. Snow Funeral Home for their care, support and friendship. SIMMS, Karlis Joel, Cook, C.A.F. (Navy) - It is with sadness that the family of Karlis Simms announces his death at Hospice House in Fredericton, NB, on Sunday, December 2nd, 2018 at the age of 54. Born in Digby, NS, on July 16th, 1964, he was the son of the late Vernon and Guida (Cromwell) Simms. Karlis leaves behind his estranged wife, Heather Lucas-Simms; son, Shaun Lucas; daughters, Karlisa (Ryan Towill) Simms and Alicia Miller; grandchildren, Keanna, Tatyana, Harlem, Ezekiel, Tahliya, and Shakur; brothers, Vernon Simms Jr. (Valerie), Ernest Simms, and Perry Simms (Glynnis); sisters, Maylene Ramore and Martina McGrath (Allan); nieces and nephews, Daniel, Ashley, Sean, Corey, as well as several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Vernon and Guida, Karlis was predeceased by his brother, Aldean Simms. Karlis was a chef by trade and the world’s greatest lover of seafood. He was a chef in the Canadian Armed Forces, Navy and he enjoyed cooking for his friends and family and was famous for his seafood chowder. He was a die hard Boston Bruin fan (to the dismay of his sister, a Toronto fan), loved singing like he was on stage and loved the ladies. His family will remember him for his great sense of humour and big heart. He was generous and would give you his last dime if you needed it. He loved his children and his grandchildren and his nieces and nephews adored their cool, funny uncle who was like a best friend to them. He will be sadly missed. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held from Jayne’s Funeral Home, 7 Birch St., Digby, NS, on Friday, December 7th, 2018, at 11:00 am with Pastor Theresa Character officiating. Interment will take place in Maplewood Cemetery following the service. For those who wish, donations in Karlis’ memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

HAMILTON, James Frederick (Jim), RCN / C.A.F. - Age 89, of Halifax died peacefully in Parkstone Enhanced Care on Sunday, December 2, 2018, having succumbed to bone cancer. Jim was born in Campbellton, N.B. on June 19, 1929, the eldest son of the late Clarence and Violet Hamilton. He spent most of his adult life in Dartmouth, serving in the Royal Canadian Navy for 25 years, retiring in 1974, and then worked for many years for Brinks Canada. Jim was a gentle soul who enjoyed his family, animals, birds and nature. He loved fishing and trekking through the woods, and was never disappointed if his fishing basket was empty at the end of the day. He adored his grandsons and never lost interest in their lives. An avid sports fan, Jim also loved to play hockey, football and baseball in his younger years. He continued this passion to the end, particularly interested in Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Jim leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Georgie (Engall); daughter, Mary Ellen (David) Handley, Halifax; grandsons, Mitch Handley, Halifax; and Russ Handley, Auckland, New Zealand; and his youngest brother, David (Diane) of Summerside, P.E.I. Jim was predeceased by his parents, brothers, George and Ken; and sisters, Shirley and Natalie. Cremation has taken place under the direction of J. A. Snow Funeral Home, Halifax. By Jim's request there will be no service. Interment of his ashes will occur in Campbellton when Georgie is ready to join him. Heartfelt thanks to the caring staff on Citadel Court in Parkstone who looked after Jim during his last days. The family, although mourning his passing, takes comfort in Jim's own words. McMASTER, Vincent Melanson, Canadian Army Dental Corps (14 Dec 1920 - 06 Dec 2018) - D.D.S. Age 97, of Inverness, N.S., passed away peacefully at the Inverness Consolidated Hospital surrounded by family. Born December 14, 1920 in Sydney, N.S., he was the youngest of eight children. Vincent was an able athlete and academic in his youth – he received top honors in both athletics and academics for the city of Sydney. After completing high school he worked at the Sydney Steel plant, saving for his planned career. He attended Dalhousie Dental School, graduating in 1947. Vincent opened his first dental practice in New Waterford. A few years later he moved his practice to Inverness. In 1957 he joined the Canadian Army Dental Corps. While with the services he was stationed in Shearwater, N.S., and Slemon Park, PEI. In his last three years of service he served aboard the aircraft carrier “Bonaventure” and supply ship “Cape Scott”. In 1969, he returned to Inverness, where he worked as a Public Health Dentist in the schools of Inverness County. Dad enjoyed visiting family, playing bridge and reading. From our father we learned the value of family. By his modeling of always being there for us, we learned to be there for one another and our families. He had a saying “We will eat at your favorite restaurant and mine”. That was our house. We learned to eat together. Meal time was with family and lots of great conversation. We all have fond memories of picking blueberries, cranberries and apples with him, and also making root beer, apple sauce and ice cream. We went on picnics and to family reunions. To entertain us, he would frequently break into spontaneous dancing, singing, or reciting poetry. These wonderful moments are among our favorite memories. Vincent was predeceased by his parents, Duncan McMaster and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Deveau, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He leaves behind his wife of 70 years, Alice Anne McMaster (Burke), and eight children Pat MacNeil; JoAnne (Lloyd) MacDougall ; Alice (Scott) MacGregor; Vincent (Sandy) McMaster D.D.S; Duncan (Wanda) McMaster D.D.S; Elizabeth McMaster; Elaine (Charlie) Cameron; Michelle (Brenda ) McMaster; 12 grandchildren – Ashley, Dustin , Hayden , Eppy , Hayley, Bryden, Justin, Patricia, Matthew, Duncan, Lindsay, Caleb, and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 11th at the Inverness Funeral Home from 2 - 4 PM and 7 – 9 PM. Funeral Mass will be at Stella Maris Church Wednesday, December 12th at 11 A.M. PACE, Bryen Eldridge, C.A.F. (Navy) - 56, of Roseway Beach passed away suddenly on Monday December 3rd,. 2018. Bryen was a son of the late Lorne and Joan (Boutillier) Pace. He was a Retired Navy Veteran having served 7 years with the Royal Canadian Navy. Bryen was a Jack of all trades, a “MacGyver” who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be remembered for his kitchen parties with his Ugly Stick “Miss Molly”, and his willingness to help or lend a hand to anyone in the community that needed it. Survived by his wife Gertrude “Trudi”, Sons Michael (Alysha), Paul both of Red Deer, AB and daughter Shayla (Josh), Barrington, grandchildren Lawson, Alanna and Kyson. Arrangements are under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date with family and friends. TAYLOR, Gary Sydney (Buck) - 81, passed away peacefully, November 21, 2014, at Ridgewood Nursing Home in Bridgewater, NS. He was born to the late Hubert and Isabel Taylor, Orillia, ON, where he resided until joining the Canadian Navy at age 17 and was posted to CFB Halifax. Gary served on many ships during his service including the Bonaventure, Annapolis and the Cape Scott. He often spoke of the memorable voyages traveled around the world and in particular was honoured in 1964 to be a member of the crew to Rapa Nui and Easter Island. Gary served for 25 years, and retired to care for the love of his life his first wife Ruby Martha (Purcell) predeceased 1987. Gary was a talented sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He fulfilled his lifelong dream of opening a hunting and fishing shop “Buck’s Tackle” in Musquodoboit Harbour. He also worked as a Stationary Engineer with Sears and Saint Mary’s University. In 1988 he married Lela Belle Young, who he loved dearly and fully retired to Broad Cove NS where they lived together happily for 25 years. They enjoyed the nature of the surrounding area and watching the deer and wildlife on their doorstep. He enjoyed raising homing pigeons and was an avid Blue Jays fan. Gary leaves a legacy of art in his remarkable wood carvings that he spent many hours toiling over in his shop. He was a great artist and won many ribbons and awards for his carvings. He was a wonderful loving husband and father who was always there to help family and friends. He was a common sense -- no nonsense kind of man who worked hard and was respected by all. Gary is survived by his four children from his first wife Ruby: Anne Marie MacDonald (Scott) Toronto, ON, Gary David Taylor (Linda Kim) Ajax, ON, Linda Rose Taylor (Steve Chartrand) Cole Harbour, NS, and Sylvia Taylor (Fred Rawson) Comox, BC; two step children from his second wife Lela: Andrew Young, (Sharon), ON and Susan Wellman (Richard) Halifax, NS; seven much loved grandchildren, Crystal Taylor NS, Daniel, Johnathan and David During ON, Adria Young NS, Rhea and Jade Heathman, BC; and two great-grandchildren, Austen and Savannah Kelly Taylor, Cole Harbour, NS. He is also survived by his brother William, sisters, Jill Bell, Diane Miller, Joan Reidman and predeceased by Paul. The family thanks the staff of South Shore Hospital, Dr. David Barss, and the staff of the Ridgewood Nursing home for the care and support provided over the past months. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy #3, Lunenburg. A private memorial service for Gary will take place at a later date. PARENT, Bernard Joseph Maurice, AB.RP, RCN (11 Aug 1932 - 13 Dec 2018) - Age 86 of Dartmouth, Bernard passed away peacefully on December 13, 2018. Bernard grew up in Beloeil, Quebec, son of Aurore Lavoie and Joseph Parent, where he lived along with brothers and sisters. Bernard served in the RCN in the Korean Conflict on HMCS Haida. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Somme Branch 31. He is survived by his daughter Bernadette; and sons Paul, Claude, Rene, and Denis (Dartmouth, NS). He is predeceased by his wife Jean Parent and his son Bernard Parent. Granddaughters Stephanie, Michelle (Halifax, NS), Robin and Nicole (Cape Breton, NS). ELLIS, Ronald Walter - 87, formerly of the Look Off, Kings Co., passed away Thursday, March 4, 2004, in the Veterans Unit, Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late John and Agnes (Moser) Ellis. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas with the Royal Canadian Navy. He had been employed at the Halifax Dockyard and later in the maintenance department of the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, until the time of his retirement. He loved the outdoors, especially working in the woods. He is survived by his wife, the former Eileen Rand; daughter, Linda (Laurie) Layton, Look Off; son, John (Olive), Halifax; stepdaughter, Mary (Everett) Brace, Moncton, N.B.; sister, Jessie (Nick) Renda, Montreal, Que.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Blanche Noonan; sister, Madeline; brothers, Alvin, Bernard and Leo. There will be no visitation or funeral service by request. Interment will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, in Arlington Cemetery, Kings Co. Donations in memory may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. HANNAH, Michael W., RCN (14 Jun 1940 - 09 Dec 2018) - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of "Mikey"at the age of 78. Mike grew up as an army brat who's most memorable places to live were Churchill Manitoba and Paris, France. He went on to join the Navy in 1959 which shocked his Army Major father. He found all branches of the military interesting and had a voracious appetite for any books he could get on the subject. After 3 yrs in the Navy, he spent a short stint with GM in Calgary before returning to Victoria and getting a job with the BC Liquor Board of which he spent 33 yrs. He was also very involved with the BCGEU during this time. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 51 yrs Mary, his devoted daughters Carrie and Katie, his fur babies Nelson and Missy, his loving sister Donna Dobson as well as niece Tara Fulton, and nephews Chris and Charles Dobson and Daniel Lindstrom. He will be missed by long time friend Telford who's Saturday morning visits he always looked forward to, and John and David who became good buddies in recent years. Thanks to the care teams @ Saan Penn Hospital, Oak Bay Lodge and especially Dr. Katherine Mckeen, her dog Tye and the team @ The Heights for their overwhelming care and support over the last yr. MacDORMAND, Robert Gordon, RCN, RCAF, C.A.F. - age 91, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. He was born December 3, 1927, in Westport, Nova Scotia to Harry and Nellie (Cameron) MacDormand. He is survived by son, Leslie; son, Edward and his wife, Bernadette Lale; granddaughter, Lauren; grandson, Alexander; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his son, David. Following high school, Bobby (as he was known to his friends) moved to Halifax to work at Halifax Shipyards. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy and then the Royal Canadian Air Force. Upon his retirement he had served in Canada’s armed forces for 29 years. He had a lifelong passion for flying and maintained his pilot’s licence for more than 50 years. He loved to take friends and family for scenic flights in his Cessna 172 from the Digby Airport. He enjoyed current affairs and had a keen interest in military history. Interment will take place at a future date at Hilltop Cemetery in Westport, Brier Island, with a Celebration of Life following at the Freeport Legion. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choosing.

PARRY, George -  It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Everton Parry on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, peacefully at the Belleville General Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born in Toronto on August 28, 1922, son of the late Lambert Everton and Jessie Alice Parry. He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years Audrey Parry, sons Richard (Heather) and Craig (Donna), grandchildren Andrew, Dylan (Beth) and Jenny (Chris) and great-grandchildren Sam and Olivia. George was a veteran of WWII, Royal Canadian Navy volunteer and saw action in North Africa, Sicily and on D-Day at Juno Beach on landing craft LCL-125. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, Burma Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, the Canadian Service Medal with Clasp, the War Medal 1939-45 and on October 20, 2017 he received the Legion of Honour from The Republic of France in gratitude for his services in liberating France during WWII. The founder of Bi-Temp Limited Heating and Air Conditioning in 1968, which is still in business 50 years later. A former member of the Belleville Sales and Ad Club, Quinte Homebuilders, Quinte Construction Association and the MG Car Club of Toronto. An avid fisherman, golfer, skier, automobile ice racing competitor and winner, sports car enthusiast and participant in the Canadian Winter Rally and Past President and lifetime member of MAAC, representing Canada twice in the 1960's in world competitions in both England and Germany. A man who loved life and lived it to the fullest. In keeping with George's wishes, cremation will take place and a private family remembrance will take place at a later date. George often expressed his gratitude of the Salvation Army for their support of the troops during WWII, therefore, if desired a memorial donation to that organization would be appreciated. STEWART, Ira George - Dartmouth, died May 28, 2004, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Charlottetown, PEI, in 1920, he was the eldest son of the late Jack and Blanche (Dewar) Stewart. Ira's long career in radio broadcasting began in 1938 on the announce staff of CFCY in Charlottetown, where he received an indoctrination in all facets of the industry. Following wartime service at sea in the Communications Division of the Royal Canadian Navy he returned to CFCY. In 1946, he joined the staff of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Halifax and went on to become one of their most prolific producers of music for regional and national networks. Although his production works ranged from Don Messer to classical, his main field was in the area of light popular music. He thoroughly enjoyed his career, having the freedom to create program ideas, select the makeup of orchestras, and write the words tying the music together in an effort to please national audiences. With the advent of stereo he became deeply involved in the production of broadcast recordings. He was a founding member of the executive of the Halifax Symphonette, now Symphony Nova Scotia. He retired in 1978. In retirement his life remained filled with music ... and the music found in words. Surviving are his wife, Ethel (Ettinger-Campbell); daughters, Christine Brooks (Ed), Carlisle, Ont.; Ann Cann (Brian), Dundas, Ont.; son, Doug (Linda), Bedford; stepchildren, Judi Cooper-Sealy (Joe), Toronto, Ont.; Brenda Robinson, Calgary, Alta.; Burt Campbell, Milo, Alta., together with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ira is also survived by brother, John (Jean), Winnipeg, Man.; sisters, Vida Cass, Shirlie MacKay (Norman), Charlottetown, PEI; Marion (Bill) Frey, Oregon; sister-in-law, Norma Stewart, Charlottetown, PEI. He was predeceased by his brother, Gordon; infant daughter, Christine; former wife, Joyce (Stentford). At Ira's request his body has been donated for the furtherance of medical science at Dalhousie University. Visitation and reception for family and friends will be held Saturday, June 5, between 2 and 4 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. BEST, Donald - It is with grief for his death and gratitude for his life, that we announce the passing, in his 100th year, of our dear father, Donald Best. Born in Winnipeg, a graduate of the University of Manitoba, he began a long and successful career in the pulp and paper industry, interrupted by 4 years of wartime convoy duty in the North Atlantic with the Royal Canadian Navy. Dad worked in Quebec, Ontario (Espanola and Toronto), the United States, New Zealand and British Columbia. Predeceased by our mother Margaret in 1999, Dad leaves his 5 children; Suzanne (Gary Duke), Maureen (Tim Laughlin), Peter (Liz Peekstok), Rosalind (Albert Roos) and Mary Lee (Bob Leier), 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Dad was a role model for his extended family. His wisdom and sense of humour endeared him to his many nieces, nephews and family friends. Quietly charismatic, he was a truly gentle man. JEFFERY, Stanley Edgar, SBA, V33874, RCNVR - Died 16 May 1973. A resident of Coniston for almost 50 years, Stanley E. Jeffery, 51, died Wednesday at his home, 33 First Ave., following a lengthy illness. Born at Beachburg, Ont., and raised and educated at Coniston, he began his working career as a mechanic at the Coniston smelter. He had 32 years of service at the time of his retirement last September. Mr. Jeffery was a veteran of the Second World War, when he served in the navy, and a member of the  Coniston Branch 427 of the Royal Canadian Legion. He is survived by his wife, the former Ruby French whom he married in 1944, three daughters, Carol Dorion and Beryl Moore of Coniston, and Christine at home, and two grandsons. A sister Shirley Atkinson of Hamilton, also survives. The body is at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., where funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Friday. Rev. J.A. Filshie will officiate.

John Black Aird, CC OOnt QC (05 May 1923 - 06 May 1995) was the 23rd Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, Canada, from 1980 to 1985. He was a Brother at the Toronto Chapter of the Alpha Delta Phi. He practised law in Toronto and headed his own firm, Aird & Berlis LLP in 1974.

Aird served as a director of several corporations. In 1958 Aird was appointed to the board of directors of Callaghan Mining. Aird later served as chairman of the board of Algoma Central Railway.

During World War II, he served in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve. From 1964 to 1974, he served as a Liberal Senator. In 1971, he was Chairman of the Canada-United States Permanent Joint Board on Defence.

From 1977 to 1985, he was Chancellor of Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo. The main focus of his mandate was Ontarians with disabilities. He wrote a book, Loyalty in a Changing World, about the contemporary function of the Lieutenant Governor.

He was lieutenant-governor when, shortly following the 1985 Ontario election, the Progressive Conservative minority government of Frank Miller was defeated by a motion of no confidence. The defeat occurred after an accord was reached between the David Peterson Liberals and Bob Rae's New Democratic Party to allow the Liberals to form a minority government for two years with NDP support despite the fact that the Liberals had slightly fewer seats than the Tories. Some media outlets, such as the conservative Toronto Sun, compared the matter to the King-Byng Affair and accused Aird of partisanship for asking Peterson to form a government rather than dissolving the legislature and calling a new election.

In 1983 Algoma Central launched a ship named the John B. Aird. Aird had previously been chairman of the board of Algoma Central Railway. After his term as Lieutenant Governor Aird became Chancellor of the University of Toronto, his alma mater. He was made an Honorary Senior Fellow of Renison College in 1985. Aird was appointed to the Order of Ontario in 1987 and in 1993 he was promoted to Companion in the Order of Canada.

He died in Toronto in 1995. Aird was Governor of the Canadian Geographic Society.

Robert first went to sea at the age of 13 on a sailing vessel owned by his uncle. Robert is first listed in the Navy List of Jun 1918 as an officer in the RNCVR with seniority of 01 May 1918. In the Jul 1918 Navy List he is recorded as serving in HMCS Constance. In the Mar 1919 Navy List he is recorded as serving in Hopper Barge # 2 as Mate, RNCVR. In the May 1919 Navy List he is recorded as being part of the Fisheries Protection Services as 1st Officer on FPS Vessel Arras. In the Oct 1919 Navy List he is recorded as being part of the Fisheries Protection Services as Mate on FPS Vessel Arleux. He was promoted to Lt, RCN(R) on 04 Feb 1924. In the Navy list for Jul 1929 he is recorded as being part of the RCNVR Division Halifax as a LCdr, RCN(R).  On 04 Feb 1932 he retired from the RCN(R). On 12 Sep 1939 he was called up for service at the RCNVR Division Charlottetown, PEI as a LCdr, RCN(R). In the Navy List for Aug 1940 he is listed under RCN Barracks Halifax as a LCdr, RCN(R). In the Navy List for Feb 1941 he is recorded as Commanding Officer of HMCS Vision (Tender to Venture) eff 08 Jul 1940 (Standby). In the Navy List for Aug 1941 he is recorded as Commanding Office of HMCS Beaver  eff 01 Aug 1941.  From 09 Oct 1942 until the end of the war he is listed as Extended Defence Officer and Chief Examination Officer at HMCS Captor, NB.

ISENOR, Joseph Guy, RCN / C.A.F. - Age 76 of Lantz, passed away on December 13, 2018, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, after a brief illness. Born in Dutch Settlement, he was a son of the late Bill Isenor and Dorothy Williams. Joe enlisted in the Armed Forces in the early 1960s and retired in 1982. He was then employed as a technician at the Technical University of Nova Scotia until his retirement in 2005. He also started his own business, Minitech Computers, in the community, using his vast knowledge of computers. He enjoyed fishing, the Boston Bruins, building things as a self-taught carpenter, Mustangs and MGB cars. Spending time with his grandson, Curtis, brought much happiness to Joe. He was a devoted and caring husband to Valerie for 42 years. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Valerie; daughter, Michelle (Derek) Bailey, Elmsdale; son, Brian Isenor, Calgary; grandson, Curtis Bailey (Jessica Fougere), Enfield; sister, Dolores (Kenneth) Fox, Middle Musquodoboit; brother, Eric (Rita), New Brunswick; sister-in-law, Lorrie Isenor, Prince George, B.C.; several nieces and nephews. MILLER, Margaret Imogen (nee WILLETT), Coder, WRCNS - 92, of Halifax, NS passed away quietly at the Halifax Infirmary on December 14th, 2018 just 13 days short of her 93rd Birthday. She was born December 27, 1925 in Bellisle, NS to Muriel (Guild) and Captain Alfred Colman Willett. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Lawrence St. Clair Willett and her husband and best friend Harry Robertson Miller. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family but is survived by several nieces and nephews. Im, or Immie as she was known to her good friends, graduated from Fredericton High School, Fredericton, NB. She served as a WRCN coder in the Second World War. In younger years Im enjoyed traveling with Harry, especially on their trips to England and Scotland or spending time with family at the farm on the island or down the in the valley. They also enjoyed attending many estate auctions. Im was an avid bridge player and enjoyed playing with her close friends up to her passing. She was an active member of the Engineer Wives Group and the Crown Jewels. We would like to thank the staff at both Melville Heights and the Halifax Infirmary 8.4 for the excellent care they provided her. By request there will be no visitation or service. It is with much sadness that we, the family of Al Millington announce his passing on September, 14, 2009, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. His loss is deeply felt by his beloved wife, Carolyn; son, David and daughter-in-law, Anita (Herthy); son, Paul and daughter-in-law, Karen (Ferrand), son, Mark; grandchildren, Jennifer and Joseph; nieces, Linda Loth and Judith Curtis and their husbands, Jack Schoon and Ross Curtis; brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Jackie Lohnes. Al was born in 1928 in Thorold, Ont., to Margaret (Rigby) and William Millington (of Manchester, England), on of eight sons. He was raised in the Toronto area before joining the Canadian Navy in 1947. He was posted to Halifax where he met and married the love of his life, Carolyn Lohnes. Al served 26 years in the Navy, posted to CFB Hochelaga and CFB Rivers and a large number of ships, enjoying many world adventures that in later years provided the material for his legendary story-telling.  He rose to the position of personal chef to the Commodore of the Bonaventure, picking up recipes from restaurants in many ports-of-call (including the famous whole boneless chicken taught to him in Norway) and demonstrating his skills to royalty and heads-of-state. He retired as Chief Petty Officer Second Class in 1973. After Al left the Navy, he and Carolyn ran a successful private catering firm in Halifax for several years before retiring to their water-front home in Clementsport. They returned to the South Shore in 1995. Among his many life interests were golf (he and Carolyn were long-time members of the Annapolis Royal Golf and Country Club), flying (al obtained his private pilot's licence in 1969), boating, and, in recent years, Al enjoyed digital photography and working on his computer. In the last few years, Al faced many health challenges without a complaint. He maintained an active social life that began daily in the Hubbards Coffee Group and included an ongoing involvement with the Hubbards Area Lions Club where he held various offices including multiple terms as King Lion. Throughout his life he received many awards and certificates of appreciation for his contributions to a variety of community organizations. He was particularly proud of the Melvyn Jones Fellow presented for Dedicated Humanitarian Services to Lions Clubs International. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday September 19th from St. Luke's Anglican Church, Hubbards, Rev. Laurie Omstead officiating. A reception will follow the service at the Hubbards Area Lions Club, Fox Point. We would like to express our deepest thanks to Dr. Heather Robertson and all of the nursing staff at SSRH. PEPPER, Christopher John (C.J.), Chief Petty Officer 1st Class Engineering Technician, 21709, RCN - (24 Dec 1918, Ituna, SK - 15 Sep 2014) Chris passed peacefully at his home, watching over his deer, with the sun shining on his face. His beloved wife, Marion of 67 years was by his side. C.J. is survived by wife Marion of Halifax, Nova Scotia and 4 daughters. Dawn O'Malley (Jim), Pat Breen (Alan), Fern Walker (Herb), and Julie Crumpler (Ted). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tara, Erica, Tracy, David, Alison, Kevin, Lesley, Yvonne, Michael and Lee. And also 11 cherished great-grandchildren. Chris was born in Ituna, SK on a homestead settled by his parents Harry Pepper and Mabel Ivey. He was the last remaining sibling of 5. Chris rode the rails from Ituna to Vancouver to join the Royal Canadian Navy in 1940. As a Stoker 2nd Class he served in WW2 and Korea. He retired as a decorated Chief Petty Officer 1st Class after 25 years service. A career he was immeasurably proud of. During his service years he was posted to Churchill MB and Calgary AB. before settling down in Victoria BC. After his military retirement he continued to work as a power engineer for Uvic and Honeywell. He was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Institute of Power Engineers of which he was a member for over 30 years. He served as President of the Victoria Branch from 1995 to 2003. He was also a proud lifetime member of the Chief's and Petty Officer's Association. Chris undoubtedly had a passion for Canadian history and Canadian travel in which he shared with his friends and family. He and Marion spent their retirement traveling to every corner of Canada, stopping everywhere he read about or knew someone from. He loved working with his hands and built 2 homes and a cabin which provided beautiful setting for family gatherings in the Highlands and at Cowichan Lake. He had a passion for people and could remember everyone he'd ever met, from boyhood on throughout his service years and travels across Canada. He was the kind of man that would take the time to get to know everyone he met and showed genuine interest and curiosity. To know Chris was to love him, as no one ever walked away without a lifelong friend. He will be remembered for his love, his compassion, his stories and his complete and undivided devotion to his family. To honour Chris's wishes, there will be no service. MOFFAT, Glen Ensley, P2PW, RCN / C.A.F. - it is with great sadness that we say goodbye to husband, father and grandfather. Glen suddenly passed away at home December 18, 2018 of cardiac arrest. Glen is predeceased by his parents, George and Stella Moffat. Survived by his wife Wanda Wetteland, son Geoffrey (Tahnee) Moffat and grandson Lucas Moffat; sisters Florence Karnes (Ernie RIP), Tammy (Greg) Manzer, brother Robert (Shawn) and ex wife Cheryl Richard. He loved his immediate family and would do anything for them especially his son and grandson. Born December 13, 1948 in Calgary, AB, joined the R.C.N. June 1966. Glen had an interesting 31 year naval career as a pay writer, travelling the world in various ships, (Restigouche, Qu'Appelle, Kootenay and Provider), coast to coast postings and deployments (MCCDICCS Vietnam 1973, Alert 1975) and retired in 1997. In 1998 he moved to Gatineau, Que. to be near his son and returned to Victoria, BC, with Wanda in 2001, as his son moved to PEl with his mom and stepdad (Carl Richard). In 2005 Geoff moved to Victoria to be with his father and Wanda. No service by request, cremation has taken place, internment TBA at God's Acre Cemetery, with his father. THOMSON, Charles Brian, CD, RCN / C.A.F. -  It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Brian Thomson on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the age of 81. Reuniting in heaven with his beloved wife and best friend of 57 years, Susan. Cherished father to Patricia Cote (Chris) and George (Christina). Loving and proud Grandpa to Holly Whitworth (Wil), Crystal Moore (John), Bridget, and Julian. Great-Grandpa to Ayden, Phoenyx, Zane, and Skylar. Predeceased by parents Agnes (Conway) and Charles Thomson. Survived by caring brothers John (Carol) and David (Margaret), and several nieces and nephews. Brian was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He served proudly in the Medical Corps of the Royal Canadian Navy from 1956 1982. He retired from military service with the rank of Captain, and from there went to work with the Ottawa Carleton Regional Ambulance Service until his retirement in 1997. Over the years, Brian had been an avid curler, gardener and nature enthusiast, with his best times enjoyed at the family cottage in Ingolf, Ontario. Friends may pay their respects at the Lannin Funeral Home, 32 Main Street East, Smiths Falls, Wednesday, December 19 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service in the chapel will be held Thursday, December 20 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow. PURCELL, James John Peter (Jim) - At the age of 83, of Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia, passed on December 17, 2018. Born in Portugal Cove, Newfoundland, he was the loving husband of 62 years, to Marlene, father of sons Jamey, Gary and Wade, grandfather of Taylor, Joshua, Jesse and Brandon, great-grandfather of Brayden, brother of Bill (pre-deceased), John, Ted and Mike (pre-deceased), son of Jack and Sarah. To know Jim was to know a love and kindness, a persistence and will to persevere through thick and thin - with his own special brand of vim and vigour. His greatest joys, and fondest memories, came from times spent with family and friends. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as a family man who cherished the love, life and laughs of family and friends, the most. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 19 and Thursday, December 20 from 7 to 9PM at Eastern Passage Community Funeral Home, 5 Cow Bay Rd., Eastern Passage. ELLIS, William Gordon (Bill), RCN / C.A.F. - Age 82, of Lower Sackville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Bill was a son of the late Gordon and Grace Ellis of Ontario. He met the love of his life, Theresa Marie and had a son whom they raised in Nova Scotia. Bill joined the military at a very young age and spent over 20 years in the Royal Canadian Navy. After retiring from the Navy he started his own Airport Limousine Company which he maintained until he was 72. Bill loved nothing more than spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren as they made him feel "young" again. Bill will be deeply missed by his loving son Sean; daughter-in-law, Tanya; cherished grandchildren, Marissa and Andrew; dear brother, Donald (Christa); sister-in-law, Wilma Ellis; nieces, nephews and extended family in Ontario and Nova Scotia; and also, very special friend, Helen Swain. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Theresa; brother, Jerry; sister, Doris Richardson. A special thank you to the staff of Dykeland Lodge, and Hants Community Hospital, Windsor for their exceptional care and compassion. STRONGMAN, Bernard (Bernie) (15 Mar 1919 - 17 Dec 2018) - a bright light in our lives suddenly went out. With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our dear father, Bernie, who was soon to be 100 years young. He will now reunite with Mary, the love of his life for 67 wonderful years. He is survived by his son Gord (Sue), daughter Trudy (Ken) and grandchildren Victoria and Jay and younger brother Les (Margaret). Predeceased by brother, Ken and sister, Hilda, and by grandson, Kyle in 2004. Bernie was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy and enjoyed a successful professional hockey career that he finished as captain of the Victoria Cougars in 1953. We were all so proud when he was inducted into the Victoria Sports Hall of Fame. Bernie's zest for life was contagious. He had a wonderful sense of humour and was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. As a father and grandfather, they didn't get any better. He was the best of the best in all ways. There are no words to express the depth of our sorrow. Our family would like to thank the staff and tenants for the kindness, care and friendship extended to our Dad during his years at Norgarden. We also thank the staff who cared for our Dad with respect and compassion at Saanich Peninsula Hospital. A private graveside service will be held for the family. MORTIMER, M. Edward, UNTD, RCN (20 Jan 1934 - 11 Dec 2018) - M. Edward Mortimer, QC. After a short illness, our Dad, Big B, Da left us too soon. Born and raised in Vancouver, Ed was the 1952 Kitsilano High valedictorian. He joined the University Naval Training Division (UNTD) in order to avoid taking PE at UBC. His first summer in Halifax, he spotted a gorgeous brunette beauty across the wardroom at the HMCS Stadacona. And so began a romance that was to last more than 50 years until Gwen's death in 2008. Ed and Gwen began their married life in a cold-water basement suite in Kits while Ed earned his law degree at UBC. He was called to the Bar in 1961, beginning a distinguished career that lasted until his retirement at the age of 83. As one of the old guard of West Coast divorce lawyers, Ed was known as a fierce litigator with great empathy, who knew when to listen and when to advise. Above all else, Ed was a family man who adored and cherished his three children, Paul (Shelley), Katherine (Scott) and Melissa; and delighted in his grandchildren, Sean, Ashley, Sasha and Dachshund, Max. He was never happier than when he was with his family, whether skiing at Whistler, travelling through Europe in a VW van, lounging in a hammock at Hornby Island, or enjoying good food, wine and many cigars at the family home in West Vancouver. His incisive wit and thirst for knowledge never left him, even at the end, when he was doing The New York Times crossword in the hospital and telling the residents to 'go home and do your homework.' Ed's friendships were many and varied, some dating back to high school and others more recent. He cherished his friends and was especially grateful for their support after the loss of his beloved Gwen. We would like to thank the caring staff at St. Paul's Hospital Palliative Unit who treated him with such compassion and tenderness during his final days. We are so grateful for their support. We will celebrate the remarkable life of our hero, our dad, Big Ed, in a private gathering in the new year. (Globe and Mail 22 dEC 2018)

HORNBY, Daniel Ian, RCN - passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018 after a brief illness. Danny was a kind, gentle soul, beloved and devoted husband of Margaret (née Buck) for 52 years. Proud father of Brian (Jennifer) and dearest grandfather to Lauren. Predeceased by his parents George Hornby and Agnes Ramage. He will be greatly missed by his brothers Richard (Georgina) of Georgeville, Québec, George (Marjolaine) of Strathmore, Alberta, and his many nieces and nephews. Danny was born in Winchester, Ontario and served in the Royal Canadian Navy for five years, travelling the world on HMCS Magnificent. After meeting and marrying Margaret, they settled in Magog, Québec, where he worked for Dominion Textile (CS Brooks) for 42 years. In retirement, he enjoyed his days with Margaret, family and friends, traveling with Brian and family, and telling everyone about his wonderful granddaughter. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at the CSSS de Memphrémagog and in the CHUS Fleurimont Intensive Care Unit for their compassionate care. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Complexe funéraire Ledoux. CARPENTER, John Lorne - (1925 - 2018) - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, and uncle on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. John is survived by his cherished wife of sixty-six years, Barbara (nee Campbell); daughters, Cathy, Jane, and Christine; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law; many nieces and a nephew. He is predeceased by his parents, Ed and Glenna Carpenter and his sister, Lorna Walker. Born in Port Arthur, Ontario, John attended the city’s local schools and participated in football, track and field, and elite hockey. When his family moved to Winnipeg, John continued his studies and elite hockey career. The Toronto Maple Leafs drafted John, but he chose to serve, for two years, in the Royal Canadian Navy. Following his war service, John attended the University of Manitoba and graduated with a law degree. At the U of M, he met Barb, studied hard, and played football. John was called to the Bar of Manitoba in 1951. After university, he played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for two years. John was certified as a Chartered Life Underwriter in 1965. He spent most of his career as a top executive in insurance and mining companies in Winnipeg, Calgary, Montreal, London (Ontario) and Toronto. John lived life to the fullest and had many interests. His greatest passions were keeping fit, golfing, playing squash and tennis and karate in his later years. He loved his ‘girls’, the farm, his Doberman (Max), and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether he was John, Dad, Grand Dad, or Great-Grand Dad, he believed that “Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I will miss you until we meet again." VICKERY, Frank N., Leading Seaman Bandsman Apprentice, RCNVR - Born in: Newfoundland and Labrador, died in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Age 88, died Monday, July 27, 2009, at the Garden Nursing Home, Charlottetown. Born in Canning, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Clarence and Harriet Pelton Vickery. He was a graduate of Canning High School. A veteran of the Second World War, he served with the Royal Canadian Navy. He was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD) and in 1967 the Centennial Medal of Canada. He was also employed with the federal government of Canada for almost 32 years. He was a life member of the reserve division HMCS Scotian, Halifax, N.S., and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Scotia branch, Halifax, N.S., for 40 plus years. Frank was a life long member of the Canning Baptist Church, Canning, N.S. He is fondly remembered by his niece, Melva O'Connor-Rafuse (Errol). He is also survived by Barbara Eaton, Wolfville, N.S.; Jean Carey (Frank), Wolfville, N.S.; and Joan (Frank) Graham of Charlottetown. Resting at Ferguson's Montague Funeral Home where the service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 11 a.m. Interment in the Sturgeon Baptist Cemetery, Sturgeon, P.E.I., beside his spouse Flora Ann (O'Connor) Vickery. Visitation: Wednesday 6-9 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service. MacDONALD, David R. - It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of David MacDonald at the age of 61, on Dec. 16, 2018. David passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his wife Carol Anne of 38 years. David was surrounded by much love during his illness. Born in Glace Bay, David was the son of the late Roderick and Norma MacDonald (Livingstone). In his younger years, David was a Chef by trade in the Navy which is where his love of cooking and entertaining began. From there he became an entrepreneur and was a well known meat broker in Ontario. He lead a very successful business, Mac Meats which was very dear to his heart. David had a love for business and in Glace Bay he was famous for his subs. The first business being Swiss BBQ House, then Dave’s Eatery (Submarine) and most recently Renwick Ice Cream, where all the kids and their families knew David and Carol Anne for their yummy treats and gracious smiles. David had a love for pool where he was once crowned #1 in the region. He loved to travel and camp with his wife, kids and family whenever he had the chance. Cuba and Florida were his happy places. David’s all time favourite hobby was making everyone’s bellies full with good food and laughter.When he entertained and people were happy he was at his happiest. As long as you weren’t late. David was a very proud husband to his adoring wife Carol Anne, and children, the apples of his eye, Amanda (Cory) Clements and Craig MacDonald and the lights of Grampies life his granddaughters Madison and Emma. He is survived by his loving sisters Debbi McNeil (Blaine) and Donna Stevens (Tony), his Brother in Law Edward Marshall (Lisa). He cherished his nieces and nephews Krista, Kerri, Katelyn, David, Michael, Justin, Chantal and Dillon. David is survived by his best friend Art Starling, many aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he loved and fondly spoke about. Beside his parents, David was predeceased by his Mother in Law Shirley Marshall Lyons (Bodhaine) and Best Friend/Brother in Law Billy McNeil. Cremation has taken place. (Navy) (served 30 Jun 1942 - Apr 1968) - Passed away peacefully October 4, 2003 in Ladysmith Hospital surrounded by his loving family, born in Rama, Saskatchewan, March 23, 1924, he grew up in Saskatoon and Ladysmith, BC. Survived by his loving wife, Marry; three sons; Stephen, Michael (Karla), Joseph (Nicole); daughters; Denis (Neal) Pearson, Anne (Ron) Vanidour, Cathy (Ryan) Tompkins; nine grandchildren: Jason, Jenni, Christopher, Julia, Michael, Greg, Corey, Katie and Quinn. Dennis joined the RCN June 30, 1942, served in the North Atlantic in the Second World War and two tours in the Korean War. Retiring from the RCN April 1968. He worked as an engineer for BC Ferries 1969-1987. "He enjoyed life to the fullest". A Mass celebrating Dennis' life will be on Wednesday, October 8, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Ladysmith, BC. Father J. Kobos and Fr. Wm. Hill Celebrants. TYRE, Douglas Stewart, C1ER, 21888-E / LCdr, RCN - on November 2, 1992, at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital. Doug was born in Burnaby, BC on December 4, 1918. After graduating from McGee High in Vancouver, he sailed tugboats on the BC coast. In 1940 he joined the RCN and was decorated for service to his country throughout the Second World War. He remained with the RCN until his retirement in 1971, after which he spent seven years with the Bridge Branch of the BC Ministry of Transportation and Highways. Doug was an active and dedicated member of the United Service Lodge and was a Past Master and Past District Grand Master of Victoria District No. 1. For many years he was also actively involved with the NDP, providing countless hours of faithful and hard work on the party's behalf. Doug is survived by his loving wife Irene, his brothers, George, Bill and Jim, his daughter, Bonita, his sons, Brian and Terrance; his grandchildren, Gary, Christine, Tanya, Dallas and Brandon, and many sister, and brothers-in-law. He will be remembered fondly by his family and his many friends and associates. This family wishes to express its thanks to Dr. T. Meadows and the nurses and staff at Saanich Peninsula Hospital for their kind care and attention. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Reck; three sisters, Alice (Mrs. Harold Bazett), Duncan, BC; Eleanor (Mrs. Howard Cousins), Mississauga, Ont.; Marion (Mrs. Carson Dawdy), Beamsville, Ont.; four brothers, Charles O., Kingston; Vernon R., Peachland, BC; Dr. Roger A., Gilmer, Texas; Grafton L., Alamo, Texas. PROSSER, Gilbert Walter, Chief Petty Officer Engineering Technician, RCN - 65, Economy, died Sunday in Colchester County Hospital, Truro. Born in Digby County, he was a son of the late Soloman and Clara (Colpitts) Prosser. During his 30-year career in the Royal Canadian Navy he was a chief petty officer in the engine room of Haida, Micmac I and Micmac II, Provider, Cayuga and Quebec. He was a Master Mason, past-master of Corinthian Lodge, No. 63, past worthy chief of UCC of E. Neptune Council. No 71. He was a member of Arob Harbour Lodge, Dartmouth, Lower Sackville Legion, Victoria Lodge of Perfection, Keith Sovereign Chapter of the Rose Croix, Nova Scotia Consistory. He received six campaign medals and the Canadian Decoration and Clasp. He was a president of the board of directors of Cobequid Credit Union and a member of Cobequid Garden Club. He is survived by his wife, the former Janet Wyatt; a son, Bruce, Dartmouth; a daughter, Jackie (Mrs.. Walter Grapel), Stewiack, a sister, Gladys (Mrs.. George Morris), Curryville, NB; and three grandsons. The body is in R.D. Lindsay Funeral Home, Bedford, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. Born in Huntsville, Ont., he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bouges. He was a member of Centennial Branch 160, Royal Canadian Legion. Surviving, besides his parents, are his wife, the former Gloria Ellison; three sons, Billy, Gregory and Norman, a daughter, Sherry, all at home; and three sisters, Pauline (Mrs. Scott Evans), Audrey (Mrs. Gordon Hopper) and Yvonne (Mrs. L. Regal), all of Huntsville. The body is at J. Albert Walker and Sons Funeral Home, Dartmouth. GIBSON, Alfred George, LCdr, RCNR - 88, has died in comfort after a short, acute, illness. George was a news man throughout his working life; he said, "printers' ink was seeping into my being" from a young age. George began as a paperboy with a 12-paper delivery route in Fort Saskatchewan during the WWII years, then sports reporter, news deskman, and Business Editor before retiring from this newspaper in 1990. George also served in the Canadian Forces Naval Reserve for 25 years; rising to rank of Lieutenant Commander. George had a wide variety of interests; to name just a few: astronomy, studying French, fishing, and watching all sports - baseball his favourite. He travelled extensively, but most enjoyed "getting there" by ocean cruise liner. George supported many charities, and volunteered at the Maritime Museum of B.C. For many years he was the primary caregiver to Joan, his wife of 62 years, while she lived with long illness. George was predeceased by Joan in August 2017. He leaves his daughter, Beth (Donald and Jennifer) Canberra, Australia, and son, Murray (Sharon) Antigonish, NS. Also: his sister, Mona (d. Vern Grasdsal), Carstairs, AB, brother, Neil (Twyla) and sister-in-law, Enid (d. Ted Hart) Edmonton, AB, nieces, nephews and close friends. Sincere thanks to all who cared for George at Selkirk.

HILL, Albert Russell (Bert), AB, V74271, RCNVR (31 Jul 1925 - 09 Nov 2011) - With deep sadness we announce the passing of Bert after a valiant struggle with cancer on November 9, 2011. He leaves behind his wife Mabel of 50 years, his three daughters Lenore, Lorelei and Lynn, four grandchildren Nathan, Erin, Dawn and Sarah and four great-grandchildren. Bert was born in Port Arthur, Ontario in 1925. He proudly served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War Two. He was an exceptional hockey player and received the MVP award from the Peterborough Petes in 1955. His love of hockey never faded. He retired from Weiser Lock in 1988 after 24 years. There is a special place in our hearts for the staff of Surrey Memorial Hospital and Laurel Place Hospice who cared for Dad in his last days. HAWKSHAW, Cedric Merton (Rick), LS (DEMS), RCNVR (1924-2008) - Vancouver, BC. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa, Cedric Hawkshaw on Wednesday, October 15th, 2008. Predeceased by his father, John Edward, on Lasqueti Island, while together in a horse and buggy accident, when Dad was 10 years old. He also lost his dog, Dixie, who was last seen swimming after the fishing vessel, which was transporting Dad’s fathers’ body and Dad to the mainland. Also predeceased by his mother, Mabel Edith Honour (nee McClean), 1st woman bank teller in Canada, founder, editor and publisher of the Burnaby Post c. 1923 – c.1936 and 1st woman censor of motion pictures of BC. Their home remains to this day as the office for the Burnaby Arts Centre and her portrait, donated by Dad, hangs over the fireplace in the front drawing room. Also predeceased by his two brothers, Crichton and Dal. Survived by daughters, Fran (Byron) Andres, Geri (Al) Elchuk, son Barry (Leslie), Grandchildren Jason (Christina), Lisa, Michelle (Ray), Mike (Lisa), Dave and 7 great grandchildren. Dad was a member of the Old Boys Association of St. Georges School. He served in the Navy (DEMS) and was a proud veteran of WW II. When the war ended, he had saved enough to buy a home in Burnaby on acreage. He sold it soon after to be closer to his job working for his father-in-law, William Worrall, whose furniture store is now home to Tom Lee Music on Granville Street. Dad ran William Worrall Furniture for many years until its closure. He then worked in the furniture department of T Eaton Co, West Vancouver until retiring at a very young age to Lasqueti Island running the Hawkshaw Ranch. He spent many wonderful years there until health issues brought him back to the Mainland. He lived at George Derby Veterans Centre for 17 years and was like a fixture there according to the wonderful staff who befriended and cared for him so well. Dad was very involved in the Arts and Crafts at Derby and made many things over the years from pottery to blankets, placemats and handbags and more recently, rag rugs. Many thanks to the staff and volunteers at George Derby who were just like family to Dad and so wonderful to us in our time of sorrow. A memorial service will be held on Oct 28th at 7 pm in the St. Georges (Junior) School Chapel with Reverend Ron Wickens officiating. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 30th at the Lasqueti Island Cemetery.

HARVEY-SMITH, Derek, RN / C2ER, RCN (served Aug 1949 - 15 May 1965) / LCdr, RCN(R) (served 15 May 1965 - 1966) - Derek Harvey Smith aged 88 of Nanaimo, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on June 26, 2014. Derek leaves his beloved wife of 42 years, Diana, to mourn his passing. He also leaves a sister, Christine, in the UK, as well as family in Victoria. Derek was born in Littlebourne, Kent, UK, on August 12, 1925, to Maude and Sidney Smith. He grew up working in the family mill, then at age 17, in 1943, joined the Royal Navy. He served during the Second World War as an engineer on tank landing crafts seeing action in many parts of Europe and the Far East. Derek immigrated to Canada in 1949 and settled for a few years in Winnipeg before joining the Canadian Navy in 1952. Derek served his adopted country well for 24 years, before being honourably discharged in 1976. Derek worked as an engineer at the municipal hospitals for the city of Winnipeg until his retirement in 1989. Leaving the snow and ice behind, Derek and Diana headed west to Nanaimo where they enjoyed many years with friends they made through Branch 257, Lantzville Legion. Derek always remained strongly connected to the Navy, and he was President of the Nanaimo branch of the Royal Canadian Naval Association for many years. He also worked with sea cadets and was an active member of the Legion. Derek was a character to the very end, and his friends and comrades, as well as Diana’s extended family, will remember Derek fondly. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Nanaimo Seniors Village for the excellent care they extended to Derek during his residency over the last two years. A memorial service celebrating Derek’s life will be held on Sunday, July 6, at 1:00 pm at the Lanzville Legion.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Cecile and their three sons, Dennis (Doreen), Don (Mary) and Derrek (Sandy), 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. Hutch was predeceased by his father, Oswald, mother, Bea, sister, Eunice, and brother, Norman. Hutch served in the RCNVR and then the RCN retiring in 1969. He then worked for Hillside Mall as a "Mall Cop" and then finished off his working career at Camosun College. We would like to give special thanks to Dr. Thomas Bailey and Nurse Lori, Alexander Macki staff, Vancouver Island Health Authority and Beacon Services for all their care and compassion throughout Hutch's declining health. FAULKNER, George Arthur - Age 86 of Lakeview, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2018 in the VG Site, QEII, Palliative Care. George was a son of the late George and Gertrude Faulkner (of Ontario). He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1953, Toronto, retiring in 1978, Halifax. After retiring from the Navy, George was employed with the Commissionaires for many years, finally retiring in 2005. George loved model trains, he spent many an hour working away with them making sure they were perfect in his eye. Most of all he loved his family, he will be deeply missed by his wife, Kennetta Scallion; son, George Clifford (Debbie); cherished grandchildren, Melissa, Brittany and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Lucas, Riley and Mackayla. CROWE, John Royce (Jack), RCN / C.A.F. - 82 of Nictaux, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018 in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Wolfville, October 24, 1936, he was a son of the late Allen and Blanche (Geddes) Crowe. Jack retired after 30 years of service with the Royal Canadian Navy from 1956-1986, he served on the HMCS Bonaventure, Protecteur and Preserver. Jack was stationed in Downsview, Ont., Shearwater, and Greenwood. He later was employed as a Commissionaire for 10 years at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. In his younger years, Jack was an avid sportsman, having played hockey, fastball and curling and later he coached hockey and baseball. He enjoyed his monthly get togethers for over 25 years with his Class of 1956 from Wolfville High School who always met at Joes Food Emporium. Jack was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sylvia (Rhuland), Nictaux; son, Talbot (Krista), Fredericton, N.B.; Tim (Wynne) Crowe, Kingston; daughter, Tanya (Jeffery) Norman, Middleton; grandchildren, Laura, Adam, Michael, David, Jacob, Megan, Matthew, Tyler, Carson, Morgan, Mackayla; great-grandchildren, Maryn and Desmond; and numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Ardeen Crowe, Springhill. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Greta, Doris, Elva, Lulu, Edith and a sister in infancy; brothers, Clarence "Birdy", Edward and Roderick "Roddy". (Navy) - With deep sorrow and loss, our family announces on the evening of Saturday, December 29th, 2018 Ronald Lloyd Free at the age of 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Edmonton Misericordia Hospital. Ronald will be forever remembered by his wife Bethany; daughter Kristina; grandsons Dreyden, Keenan, Tramel; brother David (Julia), sisters Barbara (John), Sherry (Pat); nieces, nephews, extended family and so many friends. He was predeceased by his parents Gordon and Katherine. Ronald loved his family more than anything and lived his life to the fullest. He was a dedicated hard worker, who loved golf and fishing. He enjoyed spending his weekends at his campsite with friends and family, telling stories around the campfire. Ronald served his country, dedicating 30 years to the Military (Navy) and then went on to be a school bus driver which gave him much enjoyment. He loved traveling with his wife as a snowbird to California for the winter and made many memories with his family and grandsons in Disneyland. Ronald will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Ronald will be cremated at the Westlawn Funeral Home and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Thank you all for the condolences.

BEAMENT, Gerald Arthur (UNTD), Cdr (LOG), RCN / C.A.F. - Passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the age of 87. He was born September 7, 1931 in Toronto and grew up in Orillia. Beloved husband of 62 years to the late Patricia. Loving father to Geoff (Caroline Risi) and Alison (Dan Tennian). Cherished grandfather to Kalin, Sean, Kierra, Dylan and Mitchell. Gerald graduated from RMC in 1954. He served proudly for 35 years as an officer in the Royal Canadian Navy. After retiring from the Navy, he worked 10 years with St. John Ambulance. In 1995 he was promoted to Knight in the Order of St John of Jerusalem. Gerald was an active member of the Amberwood Village Golf & Country Club. He will be greatly missed and remembered for his generous soul and dry sense of humour. As per Gerald's wishes there will be a private service for family. A celebration of life to be held at Amberwood Village Golf & Country Club at a later date for friends to attend. MAC KINNON, Charles Lauchlin (Charlie), Cdr, C.A.F. (27 Jul 1954 - 05 Dec 2018) - It is with great sadness that the family of Commander Charles Lauchlin Mac Kinnon announces his peaceful passing surrounded by family and friends in his home, after a 2 ½ year battle with a rare form of liver cancer (Cholangiocarcinoma) on Wednesday December 5, 2018. Charles always put his family ahead of everything even in his last days where he would shield them from the discomfort and anguish this disease caused him. He will be remembered by his wife of 39 years Mary, his son Jonathan (Marlene), his daughter Meagan (Jason), and 2 grandchildren who he loved dearly (Lauchlin and Avery). Charles will also be fondly remembered by his 7 brothers and sisters, Jane (Bob), Pat (Dennis), Liz (Danny), Fran (Kenny), Joanne, Bryden (Allison), Michael (Lori). Born in 1954 in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Charles covertly enlisted in the Canadian Navy a few years after attending St Mary’s University. Commander Mac Kinnon served 35 years for a country he truly believed in and gave his family the opportunity to tour the world with him (Germany for 4 years, Netherlands for 4 years, Virginia, USA for 4 years). He served on the naval ships HMCS Qu’Appelle, HMCS Fraser, and HMCS Protector. He completed his service with the Chief of Maritime Staff team in Ottawa. Family life and military life is how we will remember this great man. On retirement, Charles and Mary took their last posting to Calgary in 2014 where his children resided, to convince everyone how great his golf swing was, and where he would meet his future grandchildren. A memorial service is being held on December 8 at 3pm at Choice Memorial (4715 13 St NE, Calgary, Alberta). In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that any donations in his name be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation. WONFOR, David William - Peacefully surrounded by his loving family, after a short battle with cancer, at Southlake Regional Health Care Centre, Newmarket on Saturday, February 17, 2018, David William Wonfor, at the age of 73 years, beloved husband of Sandra. Proud dad of Angie and Steve, Dave and Melissa. Adored Poppa of Kait and Alex. Dear brother of Mildred and predeceased by Gerald and Janet. PRIDHAM, H. I. (Brud) (1927-2005) - 77, of Moncton, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Thursday, January 6, 2005. Born in Parsboro, NS, he was the son of the late Lebert and Vida (Reid) Pridham. He retired as an Executive Chef with Pan Artric. He was an adherent of Humphrey United Church. Brud served with the Royal Canadian Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was also a 60 year member of the Sunny Brae Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 54. His passion was cooking, he liked nothing better than to cook enormous meals for his children and especially for his grandchildren. He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Pridham of Harvey, NB and Janice Pridham of Scoudouc, NB; six grandchildren, Julie, Tara, Josh, Lindsay, John and Matt; by his close friend and former spouse, Lillian Pridham of Moncton; two sisters, Winona Rice of Moncton and Adrienne Mellon of Kingston, ON; and by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Elaine. The Memorial Service will be held at Tuttle Brothers Memorial Chapel on Monday, January 10, 2005 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Steve Berube officiating. The Sunny Brae Branch #54 of the Royal Canadian Legion will be holding a legion Service at Tuttle Brothers Funeral Home on Monday, January 10, 2005 at 1:45 pm. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in the spring. Donations to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation or to the charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by his family.
