MATTHEWS, George Herbert, AB, V2809, RCNVR, MPK - 29 Apr 1944, HMCS ATHABASKAN - Son of Charles and Mary Matthews, of Red Head, New Brunswick.

 

AB Matthews died when his ship, HMCS ATHABASKAN, was torpedoed and sunk in the English Channel.

 

George's brother, William Matthews, served in the RCNR during the Second World War.
