HMCS FORTUNE 151
Bay Class Minesweeper
Built by Victoria Machinery Depot, she was commissioned on 03 Nov 1954. Specification on completion: Displacement: 396 tons, Length: 152 ft, Beam: 28 ft, Draught: 8 ft, Speed: 16 kts, Complement: 3 officers, 35 men, Armament: 1-40mm. After nine years of naval service, including acting as the flagship of the Second Minesweeping Squadron during the Cuban Missile Crisis, Fortune was paid off on 28 Feb 1964. Sold for commercial use, she was renamed Offshore, then later, Greenpeace Two. As Greenpeace Two she was used in an unsuccessful effort to hind a nuclear test in the Aleutians in Nov 1971. She served for many years as MV Edgewater Fortune as a charter vessel for tours of coastal British Columbia. In July 2015, she was purchased by Mike and Janice Fournier, renamed 151 Water Street, and converted to a private yacht in 2015.
